DSC_0583We ran we ran we ran for our heart… this was the way entire Mangalore joined the universal call on the early morning of 27th day of September at 07.30AM on the occasion of World heart day. This event is successfully hosted by Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore (a unit of Manipal group of education) for the 5th consecutive year.

The marathon had an overwhelming response by hundreds of people from different quarters of Mangalore who ran together for a common cause. The entire event was worthy enough to go on the history books of “TULUNAD”.DSC_0688

DSC_0628Ms. Vandana Rao, the 1984 Indian representative to the Olympics, was the torch bearer for the event.

The marathon which was flagged-off at KMC Bejai stretched all the way through Lalbagh via PVS circle-bunts hostel till the End point was at KMC Hospital near Jyothi circle.

My original responsibility was to cover the event (which I did) but as I missed my early morning jogging, even I joined the marathon. The distant of the entire event was approximately 3.5 kilometer, seemed like a lengthy stretch, however everyone, be it young or old, couples, friends or just colleagues all seemed to have their share of fun.DSC_0646

The environment was filled with Gala and celebration; some of participants were walking with a heart shaped balloon, while some serious performers were jogging with a mineral water in hand. There were some other groups who raised slogan to create awareness of heart-care among the common people.

Eventually I met one of my old friend and client Dr Suneeth, MD or Medicinae Doctor in Pathology and his wife Dr.Gagan Brar who is also pursuing her MD in Anesthesiology, they were just back from abroad last month.

Then there was Mr .Ravi, from the administration division of KMC, Mangalore., who assisted us getting couple of voice bytes to our Community Radio Sarang 107.8FM,

Several bigwigs of the cities like politicians, sport celebrities, eminent Doctors were also present during the occasion.

Though it was my first time running such a lengthy track I was one of the proud participant who completed the entire track without a break… I would suggest everyone to try to push yourself to a higher limit atleast once, where you can create a niche for you own self-respect (if feels great). After a long time I felt like an accomplishing over myself( the fact is my ego and myself have lot of issue with one another).

That’s it for now guys I need to take some rest right now…. Leg is hurting a lot becuse of the long run.
